Mission Minded Motivation

MLB Solutions believes that the most effective way to get employees fired up about your mission is to follow three easy steps.

1. IN THE PRESENCE
Reiterate the mission in high travel areas using decorative wall art. This will ensure the mission is in the presence of all employees. In addition, keep the mission in the forefront of employees’ minds by making sure it is very visible. This means using your company’s tag line and website address if applicable in the email tag and in all written daily communication to employees, existing customers, and potential customers. We strongly suggest that the mission be highly visible throughout the physical location of employees.

2. IN THE MIND
By placing the mission statement in the locations we have suggested and any other high traffic areas, we encourage and expedite the process of getting the mission to be clear and easily understood. It will quickly be in the mind of all employees if marketed correctly. Considering this, the marketing department is likely to be a good home for this project. The next step is getting it to the place where it creates action; the heart.

3. IN THE HEART
In order or your company’s mission to be in the heart of employees, there must be a direct correlation between their actions and how they impact fulfillment of the mission. You must create emotional interactions related to success as defined by your company that reiterate and celebrate the mission. A great way to do this is to make sure whenever recognition is provided or even performance coaching for that matter, the mission is reiterated. For example, “Your continued timeliness in the completion of a very effective newsletter is key in ensuring our mission of …….is accomplished. Thank you for being mission mined.” Apply this same concept to performance goals. The team and organizational goals are only accomplished through the effectiveness of each individual. Goals need to have a correlation to the actions that each employee takes and we help create a burning fire inside by stimulating the emotions and physical senses with our motivational plans.

Your mission defines the goals of your organization. Ensuring all of your staff and partners are focused on this mission substantially increases the likelihood of its accomplishment.
